Sir,
I have the honor to report that I made application to Rear Admiral the Honorable J. Denman for a Ship of War to visit the Settlements on the North East coast of this Island and embarked in H.M.S. "Devastation" for that purpose on the 27th September returning on the 4thOctoberManuscript image October.
I visited the Settlements at Cowichan, Nanaimo, and Comox (or Port Augusta) and the Island of San Juan.
I have given Captain Joliffe, the Commander of the "Devastation," the usual certificate to enable him to recover the customary allowance for the entertainment of myself and one servant during the period before mentioned.
