Sir,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your Despatch of the 1st July, No. 47, submitting the resignation by Mr. Wakeford, of his Office of Police magistrate in Western Australia, and your nomination of him to the respective offices of your Private Secretary and Auditor for Van CouverIslandManuscript image Island.
The favorable testimony which you bear to Mr. Wakeford's services makes it agreeable to me to have it in my power to sanction your selection of him for these offices.
The Warrant for his appointment to the office of Auditor will be sent to you in due course.
