Coleman, James Edward
James Coleman was an accountant and a partner in the firm Coleman, Turquand, Youngs & Co.,
a London based accounting firm formed in
1857.1
According to historian Edgar Jones, Coleman had established a considerable reputation as a City accountant by the late
1840s and was often called by the Bank of England
to investigate the solvency of suspect firms, including Trueman & Cook, colonial
brokers.2
Coleman died on 6 November 1868, at the age of sixty.
