Dyke, Charles, Lieutenant
Lieutenant Dyke served with Captain Duntze on HMS Fisgard.
In May 1846, Fisgard arrived at Fort Victoria to bolster British strength in the region during the Oregon boundary dispute. The Fisgard sailed up the Puget Sound and anchored at Nisqually for the summer, waiting, along with other British warships, to hear if they were required to take possession of the lands north of the Columbia River. HMS Fisgard, with Lieutenant Dyke, departed in 1847 after the boundary was settled on the 49th parallel. 1
