Engleheart published a journal he kept when he accompanied
Newcastle and
The Prince of Wales on a North American visit, in
1860, reaching as far west as
Lake Superior. Prior to this role, Engleheart was a barrister at The Honourable Society of Lincoln's
Inn beginning in
1849. Following his work for
Newcastle, Engleheart served as the comptroller for Prince Christian of Denmark and Princess
Helena from
1866-69 and then served as a Clerk of the Council of the Duchy of Lancaster. While in this
role, he was knighted (K.C.B.) in
1897, before entering the Council of the Duchy of Lancaster in
1901. Having made his various careers his life, Engleheart continued his last vocation
until he was 89.
