Foster, Thomas

Thomas Foster, a member of the British Army's Royal Engineers, was awarded the Brevet
rank of Major for his service in Canada during the rebellions of
1837 and 1838.1
He was appointed Deputy Inspector-General of Fortifications in the War Office on 31 August 1860 and held the post until it was
abolished in 1862.2
Foster was promoted to full General on
8 June 1871.3
He died in London on 28 August
1872.4
