I am commanded by my Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to send you herewith, for the information of Her Majesty's Secretary of State for the Colonies, a copy of a Letter from Rear Admiral Sir Thos Maitland, dated the 22nd June, No 175, with copies of its enclosures, relative to the withdrawal of the United States Troops from the Island of San Juan.

These enclosures (with the exception of the 1st) were received from the Govr yesterday—7743. Acke & inform the Admiralty that Govr Douglas has been instructed that the British Detachment is to be retained on the Island whether the Americans are withdrawn or not.
