With reference to your letter of the 24th Instant, acknowledging the receipt of my letter of the 14th Instant, respecting the two Guns landed from H.M.S. "Bacchante," and "Topaze," for the defence of Victoria, and Esquimalt, Vancouver Island, I am commanded by my Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to acquaint you, for the information of His Grace the Duke of Newcastle, that these Guns have been reported to theWarManuscript image War Department, and are now considered as belonging to that Department.
