In reply to your letter of the 19th Instant with its enclosure from the Governor of Vancouvers Island, I am commanded by my Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to acquaint you for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies that Lieutenant Philip J. Hankin has been granted two years further leave of absence to enable him to retain the appointment of Superintendent of Police at Victoria, Vancouvers Island.
