HMS daphneDaphne, 1838-1864
HMS daphneDaphne was a sixth rate, 18-gun sailing ship of the Royal Navy, and during its time in the
Pacific it was commanded by Captain John James Onslow from 1842-47, and then by Captain
Edward Gennys Fanshawe from 1848-52.1 It was a corvette-class vessel, 37 m long by 11 m wide, built at Pembroke Dock.2
The daphneDaphne is mentioned in multiple despatches, mostly in 1851 and 1852.
