King to Under-Secretary of State
Carmarthen
20th Septr 1858
Sir,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your Letter of 17th inst and to thank The Right Honbe the Secretary of State for the Colonies for the documents which accompanied it. Altho' it appears that he has not at present selected me for any situation in British Columbia I trust the fact of my having proceeded to that Colony at my own expense will not deter me from employment should an opportunity offer.
Having a family and small means it is a matter of serious importance to me to obtain employment and I should be deeply indebted should I be honored by being selected for any situation under Government for which my former services may be considered to qualify me.
I have the honor to be Sir,
Your most obedient Servant
E. Hammond King
