Kernaghan to Carnarvon
12 Aug 1858
My Lord
As I did not go to Ireland your letter of 5th was sent to me here.
I must feel obliged by Sir Edw Bulwer Lytton's opinion.
As no person did so much since 1854 to enlighten the people here & in Canada on the Hudson's Bay Question, I, at least thought, taking my references & testimonials into account that I should have had an appointment in the new Colony.
Owing to the Indians not being allowed to sell their gold to the best buyer, the Co buy it from them @ 15$, much under the Value. No doubt orders have been sent out to prevent a continuance of this injustice.
