Sir,
I have the honour to request as early as possible authority for "advance" from Treasury to defray the incidental expenses of Capn Grant and party of 12 Royal Engineers proceeding via Panama on the 17th Inst to British Columbia, in like manner as Capn Parsons as his party by the last mail. I consider the sum of £800 would be sufficient.
With your permission I will call at the Treasury for the amount tomorrow morning. Capn Grant will require it at midday.
I have the honour to be Sir
Yr most obedient humble Servt
R.C. Moody
