Abstract

Moody requests twelve more months of rations of flour instead of biscuit for the Briseis headed for British Columbia.
The minutes complain that there is no end to applications for this Force. The CO advises to accept the request but acknowledge that it will be a great relief when it is gone.
Enclosed is a draft from the Colonial Office to the War Office recommending compliance with the suggestion.

Sir,
I have the honor to state, it would be of very great advantage to the Service and a material saving in expense if the Secretary of State would be pleased to authorize Twelve Months more Rations being supplied from Admiralty Stores at Deptford at the same rate (in quantities) as before but substituting Flour entirely for Biscuit.
The above to be shipped on board the "Briseis" now in the London Docks.

There is no end to applications for this Force. It will be a great relief when it is gone. If it would really be a saving of expense to order 12 months more rations—which I can readily conceive will be the case—& if there is the room in the Briseis, I think itManuscript image would be good policy to say "yes" to this application & write accly to the War Office.
