Mr Merivale presents his Compliments to Mr Douglas and with
reference to Sir Edward Lytton's despatch
of this day's date announcing
the appointment of Mr Matthew Begbie to the Office of Judge in
British
Columbia, enclosed a copy of a private note from that gentleman stating
that a sudden attack of illness will prevent his leaving this Country
for one or two
weeks.
