I have to request that you will inform Colonel Moody, with reference to his letter of the 25th Ultimo, 1 that the Lords Commissoners of the Treasury will not object to the issue quarterly of his Civil and MilitaryManuscript image Pay as Chief Commissioner of Lands and Works in British Columbia to his Agents Messrs Cox & Co but that it will be necessary that he should transmit to me a quarterly Certificate of his existence for the information of their Lordships.
You will also inform him that their Lordships have intimated to me that an advance of 120 days pay has been made to him and theotherManuscript image other Officers of the Expedition which pay will be considered as commencing from the date when they ceased to receive pay from the War Department.
