I have had the honor of receiving your Grace's despatch
No 16 of the 6th April, communicating your
hope

may soon be in your power to inform me of the decision which
shall be arrived at in regard to the lands in British Columbia
claimed by the Hudson's Bay Company.

2. It will be a source of much satisfaction to me when the
matter is definitely settled for since addressing your Grace
on the 7th February last, I

to my notice of the inconvenience resulting from the present
state of uncertainty as to whether the claims of the Hudson's
Bay Company will be confirmed or not, and I have been obliged
to address a letter to the Agent at this place of the Hudson's
Bay Company requesting that the lands to which they
assert

claim may be distinctly marked out, so as to prevent confusion
and litigation which cannot otherwise be well avoided.
