Despatch from London. Enclosures (untranscribed) (1).
Newcastle informs Douglas that Moody's salary will be paid despite the lack of proper documentation but that in future Moody must procure and send to this Country a certificate duly signed by an officer or Magistrate residing in the Colony.

I have the honor to transmit to you a copy of a letter from the Board of Treasury relative to the issue of Colonel Moody's Salary as Chief Commissioner of Works in British Columbia.
I have to request that you will acquaint Colonel Moody that in the present instance the amount due to him will be paid to his Agents on the production of a certificatewhichManuscript image which has been furnished by this Department but that it will be necessary that he should hereafter procure and send to this Country a certificate duly signed by an officer or Magistrate residing in the Colony.
