My Lord Duke,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of Your Grace's Despatch "Separate" of the 5th November last, transmitting copy of a letter from the Registrar and Secretary of the Order of the Bath,intimatingManuscript image intimating that the Queen had been pleased to dispense with my personal Investiture with the Insignia of a Knight Commander of the Civil division of that Order, and empowering me to wear and use the Insignia and to enjoy all the privileges thereunto belonging in as full and ample a manner as if I had been invested by the Sovereign.
IManuscript image I have also to acknowledge the receipt of the accompanying packet containing Her Majesty's Warrant of dispensation and the Insignia of the division and Class of the Order to which I have been admitted.
I have in conclusion to lay before Her Majesty my grateful acknowledgements for this eminent mark of HerRoyalManuscript image Royal appreciation of my public Services, and if anything can add to the warmth of that feeling it is the announcement in Your Grace's despatch that it has been gratifying to Your Grace to have been instrumental in advising the Queen to confer that honor on me.
