Sir,
With reference to my despatch No. 81 of the 8th Ultimo, I have the honor to report that and , two Chilicoten Indians were found guilty of active participation in the Massacres of last year andsentencedManuscript image sentenced to death. , the Chief, was executed yesterday.
2. I eagerly availed myself of some favorable circumstances in the case of and sent him back pardoned to his tribe. A sufficient number of Indians has now perished on the scaffold to atone for the atrocities committed last year.
