Sir,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your Despatch No. 107 of the 12th of September enclosing a letter addressed to me by Mr. W.H. Newton, claiming compensation for the loss he has sustained by being deprived of certain land which has been included in the IndianReserveManuscript image Reserve.
I have to request that you will acquaint Mr. Newton that I have considered the circumstances of the case, and do not find reason to interfere with the conclusion of the Colonial Government that he is not entitled to compensation for the land.
