My Lord,
I have had the honor to receive Your Lordship's despatch No. 15 of the 31st Octr placing on record some of the motives by which Her Majesty's Government were actuated in effecting thecompleteManuscript image complete Union of Vancouver Island with British Columbia.
2. I have forwarded a copy of Your Lordships despatch to the late Speaker of the House of Assembly and have caused it to be inserted in the Gazette. I consider it calculated to effect much good in calming local irritation. Vancouver Island is now in a state of great depression but I believe that most persons are sanguine as to the future of the UnitedColonyManuscript image Colony.
