Abstract
Despatch from London.
Carnarvon informs Seymour that the Hudson’s Bay Company will repay the amount the Hudson’s Bay Company received
for the sale made in error of
the public park at Victoriaand requests Seymour to determine
the exact extentof the park land that was sold. Carnarvon notes that this will not interrupt the
retransferof the deed to
Vancouver Island to the Crown.

Sir,
With reference to Governor Kennedy's Despatch No. 81 of the 20th
October, I have the honor to acquaint you that the Hudson's Bay Company
have agreed to repay the amount received by them for that portion of the
public Park at Victoria which was sold in error, and that they propose
that the sum to be repaid should be determined by the Emigration
Commissioners.
As there are no means in this Country of ascertaining the exact
extent of the land alienated or the sum received for it, I have to
request that you will furnish mewith
with the most precise and accurate
information that can be procured upon these points.
