I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your Despatch No. 89 of the 15th July enclosing for my consideration a letter addressed to you by Mr. Henry Fowler in which he applies for a more lucrative and permanent appointment than thatwhichManuscript image which he now holds.
I regret that I am unable to forward Mr. Fowler's wishes but I approve of your intention to secure him, as long as he behaves well, an appointment worth between £200 and £300 a year.
