Despatch from London.
In reference to Seymour’s despatch asking Buckingham to provide support for Spalding in another colony, Buckingham states that Spalding’s name is now noted with
other applicants for Colonial appointments.

Sir,
I have to acknowledge the receipt of your despatch of the 28th
of September No. 132, stating that you will probably find it
necessary to dispense with the services of Mr. N.R. Spalding who is
now in temporary charge of the district ofNanaimo

an expectation that I may find means of providing for him in some
other Colony.
