Abstract
Despatch to London. Minutes (1), Enclosures (untranscribed) (1).
Seymour forwards a paper shewing the steps which have been taken in [British Columbia] towards establishing an overland communication with Canada. Seymour briefly describes the current conditions in British Columbia regarding mining and farming. Cox’s minute notes that the forwarded paper was already received in a different despatch and expresses hope for the favorable prospects of Miners & Farmers in British Columbia.

My Lord Duke,
In obedience to the wish expressed in Your Grace's letters of the 30 Nov, I have the honor to forward a paper shewing the steps which have been taken in this colony towards establishingManuscript image an overland communication with Canada.
I am happy to say that everything is quiet & orderly in this Colony at present, & that the prospects both for the miners & farmers are more favourable than they have been for severalManuscript image years.
