In reply to your Letter of the 16th Instant transmitting a Copy of a Letter from Mr J. Scott Tucker relative to the desirability of constructing a Hydraulic Lift at Vancouvers Island; I am commanded by my Lords Commissioners oftheManuscript image the Admiralty to acquaint you, for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, that, should a company be formed and the requisite Capital be subscribed for the formation of a Hydraulic Lift in the Harbour of Esquimalt, my Lords will be prepared to recommend to the Treasury the application in favour of the undertaking,ofManuscript image of the provisions of the "Colonial Docks Loans Act."
