I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 26th ultimo and, in requesting you will convey to the Duke of Buckingham and Chandos the thanks of the Governor and Committee of the Hudsons Bay Company for this communication, I am directed to state that they have heard with much satisfaction the decision which has been arrived at in favour of Victoria as the Capital of British Columbia.
