Buckingham transmits correspondence between the Colonial Office, Tucker, and the War Department, regarding the construction of a hydraulic lift on Vancouver Island, by the British Columbia Graving Dock Company, and the potential for receiving financial support from
Her Majesty's government.

Sir,
I have the honor to transmit to you for your information a copy
of a letter which has been addressed to me by Mr. J. Scott Tucker, on
behalf of the British Columbia Graving Dock Company, representing the
desirability of constructing aHydraulic

and enquiring what aid Her Majesty's government would be disposed to
grant towards the completion of such an undertaking together with a
copy of the answer which has been returned to Mr. Tucker by my
direction.
