My Lord,
I have the honor to report that I have this day appointed Mr
Charles Good, to be Acting Colonial Secretary, pending
instructions from HerMajesty's Majestys Government.
2. Mr Good has served in the Colonial Secretary's Office for
ten years, during the last two of which he has been Assistant
Colonial Secretary.
3. I consider Mr Good a clever, energetic officer, and a
Gentleman in whom I can place implicit confidence, and I
therefore trust Your Lordship will approve of my having conferred
uponhim him the acting vacancy.
4. I enclose copy of Mr Good's application and of my reply.
I have the honor to be,
My Lord,
Your Lordship's most obedient,
humble Servant. Philip J. Hankin
