Sir,
I am commanded by my Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to transmit herewith, for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, a copy of a letter from Rear Admiral Hastings, dated the 9th November No 198, reporting his having detailed a Guard of Marines to be mountedatManuscript image at Government House, Victoria, for the protection of the Governor during the unsettled state of Affairs in connection with the rumoured Fenian Attempts in the Colony.
The Guard will be removed so soon as the present difficulty has subsided.
