I am requested by a number of gentlemen who desire to present a
Memorial to Earl Granville on the unfortunate condition of the
Colony of British Columbia, to ask if his Lordship could favor
them with an interview for this purpose.
The Memorial is short, and a few gentlemen only will present it,
and will not occupy much of his Lordship's time.
I have the honor to be
Sir
Your obedient Servant A Villars
Hon. Sec.
Minutes by CO staff
Sir F. Sandford
I do not know who Mr Villars is nor of what he is Honorary
Secretary—nor can Mr Birch enlighten me—or the City Directory.
The writer might be asked on whose behalf he applies for an
interview & be requested in the first instance to send a copy of
the Memorial for Lord Granville's information previous to his
recg the deputation?
