Sir,
I referred to the Crown Agents, for any observations which they might have to offer, Mr. Hankin's Despatch No. 13, of the 21st of June reporting the steps which have been taken by the Colonial Government during the first half of the present YeartoManuscript image to meet the liabilities of the Colony in this Country on account of the interest and Sinking fund of the British Columbia and Vancouver loans.
I now transmit to you a copy of the report which they have addressed to me on the subject which will show you that the remittances contemplated by Mr. Hankin will not be sufficient to meet the liabilities of the government of British Columbia as they fall due.
You will also see from the concluding paragraphofManuscript image of their letter the times at which remittances ought to be made on this account.
