I transmit to you herewith the Queen's Warrant appointing these
Gentlemen.
I have to convey to you my approval of the Proclamation which you
issued convening the issue a Meeting on the 5th January.
Her Majesty's Government have learnt with much satisfaction from
your telegram dated the
20
20 January that the Council had passed
unanimously an Address to
the Queen in favor of Union with Canada and I
readily leave it to your judgment to decide as to the time and manner of
bringing forward the question of Responsible Government.
