I have to acknowledge the receipt on the
16 April last of a
printed circular from your Grace, dated
3 May 1853, transmitting
for my information and guidance the copy of a letter from the Board of
Trade, together with its enclosures, by which I perceive that Her
Majesty's Government have decided that the produce of the East Indian
States of
Cochin and
Travancore, should be admitted into the Ports of
the United Kingdom, and of the British Colonies, as the produce of
British Possessions. I have
to
to assure your Grace that the decision of
Her Majesty's Government, in that case, shall be made public in this
Colony.
