I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your Despatch No 13, of the 18th of July 1856, calling my attention to Rule 157 in the Book of Colonial Regulations, directing that Despatches from the officers administering Colonial Governments, should each be confined to a single subjectManuscript imagesubject, a rule which I observe, with regret, has not been, in all cases, attended to in my correspondence with Her Majesty's Government.
I beg however to assure you that in my future communications I will strictly conform to the said regulation.
