I have the honor to announce to you, the arrival in the Port of Esquimalt, of Her Majesty's Steam Corvette "Satellite," under the command of Captain Prevost, Her Majesty's Commissioner for the settlement of part of the boundary Line between Vancouver's Island and Washington Territory.
The Commissioners fortheManuscript image the settlement of that question appointed by the United States have not arrived here, and Captain Prevost therefore proposes to visit Olympia the capital of Washington Territory with the "Satellite," to procure information from the authorities respecting the movements of the United States Commissioners, and the probable time of their arrival here. He has expressed a wish that I should accompany him to Olympia, as he thinks the public service may be thereby promoted, I should not hesitate in that case to accompany him.
I have the honor to acknowledge your note of the 6th of November last, accompanying the Imperial Acts relating to the County Courts, andManuscript image and Archibald's Practice of the County Courts which were received by the "Satellite," and also a case containing the Official Seal for the Supreme Court, and Customs Department of Vancouver's Island, and your Despatches of the dates noted in the margin.
