Labouchere informs Douglas that the HBC will
apprizehim of their decision concerning a salary for David Cameron.

Sir,
I have to acknowledge the receipt of your Despatch No 25 of the
28th July in which you request instructions as to the amount and
payment of the salary to be assigned to Mr Cameron, the Chief
Justice of the Supreme Court of Vancouver's Island.
I have referred this question to the Hudson's Bay Company,
with whom
alone the decision rests, and they have apprized me that it is their
intention to communicate with you on the subject by an early opportunity.
