1. I beg to transmit for your information copy of a letter
               which I lately received from
M Edward Stamp, a person of
               highly respectable character, who
has

               has resided in this Country
for some time past, and is now returning to England on business
connected with this Colony, his object being to induce English
Capitalists to join him in establishing suitable steamers for
               the country trade.

               2. He would gladly enter into a Contract with Her Majesty's
Government for carrying the Mails between this place and San
Francisco; and I beg to state for your information, that
M Stamp is reported to have great
experience

experience as a Ship owner and
Master, and is generally considered to be a respectable and
               perfectly trust worthy person.
