With reference to your letter of the 11th Instant, I am directed by the Earl of Malmesbury to transmit to you, for the information of Secretary Sir E.B. Lytton, a copy of a Despatch from HerManuscript imageHer Majesty's Minister at Washington, reporting that it is probable that Governor Douglas' claim against the Authorities of Washington Territory will shortly be settled.
