I have laid before Lord John Russell your Letter of the 4th instant, inclosing a Copy of a Letter from the Governor of the Hudson's Bay Company respecting the question of the company's Establishment on the Island of San Juan.
I am to state to you, in reply, for the information ofTheManuscript image The Duke of Newcastle, that Lord John Russell is disposed to concur in His Grace's views on this subject, as stated in your Letter; at all events, His Lordship does not consider that the company have any claim upon Her Majesty's Government in respect of their establishment upon San Juan.
