With reference to your letter of the 20th Ultimo, relative to a Bill for £430 drawn by the Treasurer of Vancouvers Island on account of Lighthouses which are being built there, I am directed by the Lords Commissioners of Her Majestys Treasury to acquaint you for the information of the Duke of Newcastle that they have directed the acceptance and payment of the Bill in question, and they approve of the proposal of the Secretary of StatethatManuscript image that the Colony should pay one moiety of the Total Cost of the Lighthouses including this last sum of £430, and Their Lordships request to be informed of the arrangements which may have been made by the Local Government for the discharge of the Debt.
