Heseltine to Newcastle
Blake House Bow
22nd April 1861
To His Grace the Duke of Newcastle
Her Majesty's Secretary of State
for the Colonies
My Lord Duke
Since I had the honor of addressing your Grace on the 25th of August last I have had a communication from Mr T.G. Williams Registrar of the Supreme Court of Van Couvers Island transmitting the accounts relative to my late Son's affairs, at the same time stating that he had not received from the Colonial Secretary the amount due to my Son at his decease, as Government Steam Inspector amounting to £66.13.4 for four months service at £200 per annum.
I shall therefore be greatly obliged if your Grace will cause me to be informed in what way I must make application to obtain the Said Sum.
I subjoin an extract from the Registrar's letter and have the honor to remain
Your Grace's
Obedient humble Servant
Sam R. Heseltine
