With reference to my letter of the 14th March last, I am commanded by my Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to acquaint you, for the information of His Grace the Duke of Newcastle, that they have been informed by Rear Admiral Sir T. Maitland that the two 68 Pdr 95 Cwt Guns of "Bacchante," and "Topaze," have been placed on the Point at present occupied by the TemporaryNavalManuscript image Naval Hospital Buildings at Esquimalt, that being the best position for defending the entrance of the Harbour.
I am, Sir,
Your most obedient Servant

After the despatch which was addressed to the Governor on the 21 March last it is scarcely necessary to write again to him on this subject. This information is chiefly useful to us at head quarters.
