My Lord Duke,
I have the honour to inform Your Grace that I caused Writs to be issued on the 13th of July last for the election of Representatives to serve in the House of Assembly, the said Writs being made returnable on the 18th day of AugustManuscript image Instant.
2. The Elections have since taken place, and the following is a list of the persons elected and of the several Electoral Districts for which they have been returned.

3. Mr Young, the Colonial Secretary, presented himself with my sanction as a Candidate for the City of Victoria and was returned at the head of the Poll, a Compliment at once to his own Personal QualitiesManuscript image and manifesting the strong interest felt by the public in placing a Member of the Government in the House. The character of the other Members is highly respectable and with few exceptions their political views are conservative.
4. Parliament now stands convened for the second day of September next when it will meet for the transaction of business.
