With reference to my despatch No. 17 of the
9th Instant, I have the
honor to acquaint you that I have authorized the Agents General to
accept and pay three more Bills Nos 7, 8 and 9 drawn on them by the
Treasurer of
Vancouver Island to the amount of £6,000.
On two successive
occasions occasions the bills have been presented to the
Agents for payment before any advice of their draft had been received.
As this is inconvenient and even tends to raise doubts at times whether
bills ought to be paid under such circumstances, I have to request that
you will take particular care
that that the advice of any future Bills may be
sent by equally early opportunities as the Bills themselves.
