Sir,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your despatch No. 9
of the 3rd of April reporting that you had granted leave of absence for
6 months to Mr. Pemberton, the Surveyor General of Vancouver Island, to
enable him to proceed toEngland

I acquiesce in this arrangement but Mr. Pemberton cannot be allowed
to draw full Salary for a greater period than six months after his
departure from the Colony on the 3rd of April.
