I have the honor to transmit a copy of correspondence which has
passed between the Consul of the United States resident in this
Colony and myself in reference to the death of President Lincoln.

Kennedy to Allen Francis, 22 April 1865, enclosing copy of a
resolution of the Legislative Assembly expressing sympathy "in the
calamity which has befallen the United States of America," and
concurring fully in the sentiments expressed.
Resolution passed by the Legislative Assembly, 20 April 1865, as
noted above, signed by R.W. Torrens, Clerk of the House.
Francis to Kennedy, 24 April 1865, acknowledging receipt of his
letter and enclosure and expressing thanks "for this evidence of
sympathy in our country's affliction."
