Sir,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your Despatch, No.
21, of the 10th of March enclosing a copy of a letter from Mr. B.W.
Pearse applying for confirmation in the Office of Surveyor General of
Vancouver Island.
I have to requestthat
that you will acquaint Mr. Pearse that existing
circumstances do not allow of coming to any decision of the subject of
Keeping up the Office of Surveyor General, or the manner in which it
should be filled.
