Alexis Lake, located on the trail to Alexandria, is a body of water in which Alexis Creek flows into. Both of these areas were named
after Chief Alexis of the Tsilhqot'in who was the chief during the “Chilcotin War.”1 As it was since the earliest days of human presence, Alexis Lake is a popular fishing
destination. Alfred Waddington writes that the Chilacooten Tribe, (Tsilhqot'in), were often seen at Alexis Lake as it was one of their main fishing
locations.2
